Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Rudy's happily in a new home

According to shelter staff, Rudy is a black and white, neutered male, estimated to be about 8-months old. Rudy arrived at Cheyenne Animal Shelter on May 17, 2000. He was a stray brought in by Animal Control, a quiet dog with striking good looks. In a few weeks, Rudy reached the end run, sometimes called Death Row, he was near emaciation. The CAS employees discovered that Rudy simply was not eating, and they took a special interest in this beautiful dog. They have been making certain Rudy eats a good meal each day by sitting with him during meals, and with this extra company and attention, he has improved by leaps and bounds.

Rudy is between 20" and 22" tall and about 45 lbs. His health is as good as can be expected, given his current situation. His weight is now close to ideal, and his coat has a pleasing sheen. He has fine, dense bones, but his musculature will greatly benefit from the daily work-outs he is now lacking. He is current on his vaccinations. He has not been heartworm tested, as this is not a large concern in the local area.

The CAS staff believe that Rudy would not only have no problem getting along with other dogs, but he would in fact prove a desirable addition to a multi-dog home. All the shelter staff feel Rudy is one of the sweetest dogs at CAS. The staffer who contacted PRO states that Rudy is "such a beautiful, sensitive dog with such a people-pleasing disposition trapped in this no-win situation. Rudy is a good dog and could be bringing someone a lot of pleasure instead of whiling away his days in a 4' x 8' run."

If you think Rudy is pointing to you, contact the staff at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter is 501 Parsley Blvd, Cheyenne, WY 82007; the phone number, (307) 632-6655.
