Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Looking for a new home

Miles is 3-4 years old, neutered, heartworm negative, and UTD on shots. He was picked up as a stray, lived in a pointer kennel until he was 7 months old, and has lived with a single person and another dog for the past 3 years. He is a very friendly, happy boy with lots of pointer energy. Gets along with most other dogs once he knows them, and likes being around people. Gentle with children. He will chase and bark at cats, but hasn?t shown aggression.

Miles has been to numerous obedience classes and has his Canine Good Citizen Certificate (after a few tries). He is reliable on his commands indoors. Outdoors, however, all bets are off. He loved agility class and loves to climb up on the highest thing. He has a lot of intense hunting drive and would love to find someone who can help him direct his energy. He is crate trained and quiet in his crate once it?s become a familiar routine. He gets excited in the car and rides best in a crate. He would do well with a safe place to run every day. (He loves running in the woods/fields but is not reliable on recall.) He settles down well inside after getting some exercise, though he admits to occasional counter-surfing and trash-can browsing. He will go over a 6-foot fence, and is an escape artist who needs close watching.

Miles's most favorite things in the world are watching squirrels, pointing squirrels, chasing squirrels, listening to birdie noises on the TV, Kong toys filled with peanut butter, and sleeping under the blankets.

If you are interested in adopting Miles, please fill out a PRO Adoption Form and someone will be in touch with you soon.
