Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Hi!! I'm Bailey!!

Hello!! Hi!! Hey!!! How ya doing??? My name is Bailey and I am one very lovable, cuter than cute, devilishly handsome 3 year old English Pointer. I have yet to meet anyone I don't like, especially men. I even liked the animal control officers at the shelter I was rescued from. I love my foster Granddad and am very careful around him when he is up on his walker. I also am very fond of my foster Dad and Mom. I also love my little Yorkie foster sister but I don't get to play with her unsupervised since she is SO TINY. She thinks she is my size, imagine that.

My chances weren't very good at the shelter since I am a "birddog" in the South. Unless I hunt, most people don't want me. However, I had a guardian angel. My foster mom here in Memphis, TN. She saw my picture on the shelter website and just had to rescue me because I was so cute and looked so pitiful! Even when she found out I had heartworms she still wanted me. I was VERY thin and needed allot of TLC! I got treated for heartworms and put on some weight and now I have the most gorgeous liver and white coat! The ladies LOVE it! I do have a partially docked tail. Since I am such a happy dog my foster Mom thinks I probably got a case of "Happy Tail" and injured it by wagging it and hitting it on something and had to have it amputated at some point in my life. Pointers can have this problem because our tails are so long and skinny. I have been told this only adds to my charm. My cute nubbie tail. At least I can't walk by the coffee table and knock things over,

I don't much care for birds but I do love to run in the back yard and play with my bones and toys. My idea of fetch is for you to chase me to get the ball. What?? I'm a pointer, not a silly Labrador Retriever, sheesh! I am crate trained, house trained and working on basic obedience. I just got the clearance from the vet to start on the monthly heartworm preventative and will need to be tested in 6 months. This is routine so nothing to worry about. Now that I have finished my treatment and have attained a healthy weight I only need to be neutered and I will be ready to meet my new family. I am so perfect in the house. I don't jump up, or run. I just like to lay in my crate, on the floor near my people or on the couch. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE THING is cuddle time with my Foster Mom. Before bedtime I get to get in the bed with her and cuddle. We lay face to face and she pets me until I fall asleep. Then I go to my crate and I am out for the count. Not a peep! I am just the best dog, or so I am told on a daily basis! I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want a family and home of my very own. My foster mom would LOVE to tell you all about me if you are interested. She is very good at bragging on me. (I hope I get EXTRA snausages for buttering my foster mom up so much in my letter) Did I mention I LOVE SNAUSAGES!! If you are interested in adopting me or finding more out about me please fill out a PRO Adoption Form!!.
