Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Jake's Journey

My journey began in Tennessee where my original owners turned me into the Humane Society. The paperwork said I was chained outside it also said that the shelter could dispose of me in any way they choose. Can you imagine? They could place me in a home or euthanized me at will. I am so glad that those great people at the shelter decided to contact Pointer Rescue and find me a foster home. It is not easy finding a foster home, but I was a lucky boy thanks to someone named Wanda. I was at a place where they gave me all kinds of shots, neutered me (ouch) and turned me over to some people who gave me a ride to Connecticut to my foster home. Let me tell you that I would do it all over again if I had the choice. What a pleasure it is to be here in CT. I do not even mind the colder weather. I must confess I did not have any house manners so my foster mom and I began training. I am a very bright boy and it did not take me long to follow the rules such as where to go to relieve myself, what I could chew and what I had to leave alone, stay off the counter. I just love to chase a ball (I do like to chew those baseballs). I am so comfortable here who would want to go back to the life I had before. I now have a soft bed, friends, toys to play with, and food and shelter. What I need now is for a family I could call my own that would complete my journey. I can give you a list of the things I have accomplished since I have been in foster care. Of course, this is only what I hear from my foster mom. I am housebroken, have had all my necessary shots, I am heartworm negative and take those monthly preventatives, I am also micro chipped, get along with other dogs and cats (it is fun to chase the cats though) I still have a little devil in me. My foster mom would love to tell you all about me if you would like to know more about my personality. I heard my foster mom talking to a friend and she told them I am so smart and such a love bug (that made me feel so good). I do love to stalk birds in the yard, but I will come immediately if you call me after all I would love you more.
