Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

TN Girl Needs Your Help!!

Hello!! Hi!! Hey!!! How ya doing??? My name is Gracie Mae and I am one very lovable, sweet twoish year old English Pointer. I have yet to meet anyone I don't like, especially men. I even liked the animal control officers at the shelter I was rescued from. I love my foster Granddad and am very careful around him when he is up on his walker. I also am very fond of my foster Mom. I also love my little Yorkie foster sister but I don't get to play with her unsupervised since she is SO TINY. She thinks she is my size, imagine that.

My chances weren't very good at the shelter since I am a "birddog" in the South. Unless I hunt, most people don't want me. My mean owner kept me chained up outside most of my life and he thought I would just "naturally" hunt birds for him. Silly old man! So that's how I ended up at a shelter. I was 20 pounds underweight and had just had puppies. My tail was bleeding and quite frankly I was not very appealing. Visitors to the shelter felt sorry for me but none of them could see my true potential. However, I had a guardian angel. My foster mom here in Memphis, TN. She saw my picture on the shelter website and just had to rescue me because I was so cute and looked so pitiful! She loving called me a "walking stick" because I was so VERY thin, had a case of happy tail and was afraid of the world so I needed a lot of TLC! I've put on weight and my tail has healed beautifully and now I have the most gorgeous black and white coat! And I've found out that the world isn't such a scary place after all. When strangers see me they all say I'm a beautiful girl and you know how we girls love hearing that.

I love stalking and pointing birds (well anything that moves really) but I especially love to run in the back yard and play with my bones and toys. I had my first "productive" find yesterday. Okay, so it was a turtle but who cares. I found it and I gave it to my foster mom. She was very proud and that's what is important to me. Pleasing my foster mom.

I am crate trained, house trained and working on basic obedience. I am so perfect in the house. I don't jump up on people or run through the house. I just like to lie in my crate, on the floor near my people or on the couch. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE THING is cuddle time with my foster mom. Before bedtime I get to get in the bed with her and cuddle. We lay face to face and she pets me until I fall asleep. Then I go to my crate and I am out for the count. Not a peep! I am just the best dog, or so I am told on a daily basis! I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want a family and home of my very own. I would prefer a home where I am the only pet because I really love the attention and I am a little intimated by other dogs. My foster mom would LOVE to tell you all about me if you are interested. She is very good at bragging on me. If you are interested in adopting me or finding out more about me please fill out a PRO Adoption Form and someone will be in touch!
