Lewis Needs a New Home
Lewis (we call him Lucky Louie) came from a shelter in Maryland as a stray. He is neutered, has all his shots, and is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative, but he wants to tell you his story.
I love being with my foster family and out of the shelter in Maryland. I took a long ride with lots of different people to get to South Carolina. Hey, it really is not bad here at all and I have lots of fun with my foster brother and sister. There are a couple of smaller creatures here I am told are called cats. I do like to chase them once in a while, but I am not interested in doing them any harm and really they do not bother me at all. I do like to help you fold clothes so I may grab a sock now and then, but I give it back if you get me my own toys to play with or will drop it if you tell me to stop. I am not sure what housebroken means, but I am and I know that makes my foster Mom happy. I love to ride in the car and go to the dog park every day. I run and run and have so much fun with the other dogs. There are some grumpy dogs there at times, but they do not bother me I just ignore them and play with the friendly ones I love dogs that want to play. Besides playing with other dogs, my favorite thing to do is chase tennis balls and bring them back for you to throw again. I am learning the " give it" command cause my foster Mom wants me to drop the ball for her she will not throw it again unless I give it back. I am still working on that one since it is such fun to lay it at her feet and than grab it again. I am looking for a forever family who likes lots of love and wants to play ball with me. I have lots of energy, but I calm down in the house and know how to relax. I was using a crate and will go in for you, but for the last couple of nights I have been allowed to sleep out of the crate and that was nice. I do go in the crate when Mom is going out for awhile which is fine with me. My Mom says I have pretty good recall I do try to come every time she calls, but sometimes I may be watching something interesting and she may have to call me again. If I think she is leaving the park I make sure I am right next to her I do not want her leaving me there. So anyone out there who loves pointers (I am liver and white), wants a good companion ( I am male), likes to play with a dog and have fun - I am your guy!
Louie will make someone a great companion dog. He is very lovable, smart, easy to train and likes routine. He still needs more training on lead, but is doing good. He does not counter surf, but I bet if you left out a nice steak you would not find it later so you'll have to keep an eye on him in that regard. He is not food aggressive and takes treats waiting his turn.
If you are interested in Lewis, please fill out a PRO Adoption Form and someone will contact you soon.
