Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Plato is Thinking About His New Home

Hello! My name is Plato and I am about a year old, fun loving boy! I am Lemon and White, or a Lemonhead as my Foster Mom calls me. I am heartworm negative and taking heartworm preventative to make sure I don't get them. I was neutered soon after arriving at my Foster's home. I am current on all shots and weigh about 52 pounds, but my Foster Mom says I need to gain about 8 pounds.

I am living with 2 other Lemonheads, and we all get along great! I bark and play with them as much as I can. I have also met a big ol' Lab and he and I get along, he's not too sure about my exhuberance though. So far the only household member I have an issue with is that cat! I don't understand why I can't bite her! So my Foster Mom says I need to go to a house with no cats! I have great pointing skills, and if you were interested in training me, my Foster Mom and Dad both say I would make an excellent hunter.

Since coming all the way from Alabama to Central Virginia I have been learning alot! I am now crating myself - though sometimes I still would rather you rub my belly than put me in there. I have learned about Pnut Butter and Kibble filled kongs.... oh wow.... they are the best! I also live with a teenager and a 11 year old. I love the kids! In fact if the teenager walks by me and doesn't pet me or talk to me, I start shaking and whining until she comes back to pet me. The boy is pretty cool too, he's thrown a ball for me, but I don't always like to bring it back. I haven't had an accident in my crate, and will let the Foster parents know if I need to go out. I don't get a whole lot of house time, that dang cat, but I am pretty good when I am allowed. I learned very quickly what "NO" means. My home here has a regular 4 foot chain link fence, and I can jump it! There are soo many birds in the neighbor's yard! And cats! I love to chase cats! I have been worked with on a lead, and listen and obey very well, as long as there are no other dogs around to distract me. My leash manners, well, my Foster Mom says we are still working on those. But I can't help it, I get so excited to go into the house, or around the yard to sniff everything.

I would love a house with older kids, I may be too much for little ones right now, as I don't realize my own strength. I wouldn't mean to hurt them, but I might knock them down. Also if you would work with me, I know I would be an AWESOME hunter!
