Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Sparrow Needs Your Help

Sparrow, her mom (Dove) and brother (Hawk) were found wandering the streets near San Antonio and people reported seeing them for many months but could never catch them. They must have run out of energy from being so thin for when they were brought to the shelter all were almost bones. Sparrow was, and is, very affectionate and loving and she quickly gained weight as she awaited transport to her foster home in Missouri. She was spayed and continued to thrive among her small friends at a Jack Russell Terrier Rescue in Texas. She is approximately 18 months old.

She is in a great foster home in Missouri and is learning new commands and good dog behavior at obedience school and will sometimes sit for a treat. It is a slow process at the moment because of the transition from one foster home to the next, but she is fitting in nicely and looking forward to finding her own family.

She may have been a hunting dog, although she is said to be gun shy. She avoids the cats but loves the two pointers who live at her foster home. She loves to run and hop in the fenced in backyard and sometimes she dances with one of the other pointers. She is getting used to the hardwood floors as she had been outside for a long time.

She loves the dog bed, her foster sister's bed and her foster mommy's bed the best. She gives 'pointer hugs' and loves belly rubs. She is slow to recall but is getting better everyday. She still has a lot of puppy in her.

She will make a great companion for a family with another dog or with the proper training, maybe a hunting dog.
