Crash Needs a New Home!
Crash arrived at the shelter on 1-12-11, after being hit by a car on Hwy 412 (in front of Tractor Supply). Crash suffered a severe wound to the inside of his mouth and deep, soft tissue bruising all over his body. Dr. McCarver of the Siloam Springs Veterinary Clinic treated Crash, suturing wounds on his back legs and the inside of his mouth. A few of his teeth were broken, and the vet opted to leave them in as removing them would be more traumatic. Crash is expected to make a full recovery. He will be available for adoption starting 1-22-11. Staff are working hard to put some weight on Crash, and to keep him comfortable (he is very tender from head to toe). He appears to be a English Pointer and currently weighs around 45 lbs. Crash is approximately 4-5 years old, and has very handsome markings. He will be wormed and off of his pain medication by the time he is ready for a new home.
1-27-11 Update: Crash runs around full of energy when in the yard, and is mellow as can be when being petted. Crash does not jump up, and stands quietly when getting attention. He will be rechecked by a veterinarian today, and we are expecting him to be given a clean bill of health! He is kennel broke, meaning that he waits for yard time to relieve himself. When inside our facility running loose, he does show an urge to 'mark' and we have to keep a close eye on him once he starts sniffing around. We have not let Crash interact with our other dogs yet, and have not tested him around cats.
Crash walks great on a leash and has put on that much needed weight (currently around 55 lbs). He has a quiet, eager to please personality, and smells just like a Pointer too!
Crash is in need of a foster or forever home. If you are interested in fostering him for Pointer Rescue, please complete a PRO Volunteer Form and indicate your interest in fostering Crash.
