Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Ruthie is Hunting for You!

Sweet little Ruthie was saved from a shelter in South Carolina where she was extremely under weight at only 31 pounds when arriving to her Ohio foster home. She is steadily filling out with a hearty appetite, is very loving and outgoing with no evidence of fear issues. Her foster family cannot get over what a well behaved girl Ruthie is or understand why she would have been given up to a dog shelter. She waits patiently every time her meal is prepared without counter surfing, knows the sit or down command, is completely house trained and crates easily without any hesitation.

Ruthie is a very bird crazy Pointer and probably has a hunting background or could easily be retrained in the field with a patient and knowledgeable trainer. Her foster dad has not yet tested her with a gun so it is unknown presently if she has any shyness. She has done well socializing with the other family dogs in her foster home and would prefer a new forever home with another companion dog who is not at all aggressive, or as an only dog getting all the attention for herself.

Like most Pointers, Ruthie is capable of being a far running dog and it is not recommended that she be exercised off leash in an unfenced area. Although she enjoys being outside in her fenced yard she is not high maintenance and would be happy with a family who could take her out for daily exercise to a dog park. Ruthie is up to date on her vaccinations, is HW negative, already spayed and current on heart-worm/flea/tick preventatives.
