Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Duke Needs a New Family

Duke, a Pointer (white with black head and black spots on his torso and body) joined my then single husband as a rescue about 4 years ago and was a great companion and pet-brother to a Lab-mix. My husband and I recently got married and are expecting a little one in January. Our new family dynamics have not been an easy transition for Duke.

Duke is a loving and affectionate dog, looking for a new home with an active family. He is house broken, knows several commands (sit, down, come, paw), and walks well on a leash. He loves to be petted and will lean against you if you pet him long enough. Duke is good with our two other dogs and is well socialized at the dog park. He is also good with kids (not aggressive) although his bark can be intimidating even to adults.

One of his downfalls is his desire to need constant attention. Another is his fear of loud noises – he is scared of the air compressor for example, which leads us to believe he is probably gun shy.

Duke is a house dog that loves long walks/runs, his bed, and having his belly rubbed. Duke is looking to be with new family that has ample space (large fenced yard is important) and tons of time to play and motivate him. Duke does well at the groomer and the Vet.

Duke is current on all his vaccinations, parasite and flea/tick treatments. He comes with toys, leash, collar, bed and whatever supply of food and treatment meds we have on hand. No adoption fee is required although a donation of $150 to PRO would be appreciated. His medical records are available from his Veterinarian.
