Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Holly Needs Your Help!

Meet Holly, a new girl to the PRO family of adoptable pointers. Holly is a petite lemon girl, about three years old (spayed & HW neg, UTD on shots). She has been with her foster in VA for three weeks now and adjusting exceptionally well. There are just no drawbacks to this pretty girl. Holly came in to the Greenville, SC, shelter as a stray, quite emaciated but is filling out nicely. She is healthy and playful, but not overactive, and thoroughly enjoying lap cuddles now. Her house manners are right on target with very little training needed; we’re working her counter-surfing and occasional jumping up to greet her person. Having been starved, she is interested in the others’ food, and has tried to sneak into it, but is not food aggressive. She is learning to leash walk, starting in a harness.

She is very confident and happy with other dogs, but is a bit timid around new people and situations. A gentle voice is all it takes. She is housebroken, crated trained, rides in the car, respects the fence and even comes when called from 50+ yards (within a fence). She is great with children, but has has yet to be checked around cats. She does not have separation anxiety but does lead her fellow pointers in a lovely chorus for a few minutes when foster mom leaves. She has been crated for 6-7 hours so far, with no anxiety or destruction. With a rare recent winter thunderstorm, she did hide in a closet but was not destructive.
