Vera Needs a New Home
Hi my name is Vera and during my photo shoot at the shelter I was doing my very best pointer impression because I really wanted PRO to take me into their foster program. Guess what....IT WORKED! I started my long transport from IL to NJ. When I got to my foster home my foster mom found out my secret, I wasn't quite ALL pointer. There is something else in the mix too. It's ok though they said they would still help me find just the right home.
I'm a very tiny thing, some would call me a "pocket pointer" I only weight 30 pounds. I could stand to gain a few pounds but I'm not horribly thin, the shelter took good care of me. At the shelter they thought I was only about 9 months old. My foster moms vet thinks I'm a least one or two years old. My teeth are in pretty bad shape and I really need a dental cleaning. Other than that I'm in good shape, already spayed and heart worm negative and on preventative.
I'm really very good in the house and I'm quiet in my crate at night or when my foster mom and dad have to go out. I'm learning what I can and cannot chew on in the house. I never had toys before so I think everything is a toy. I listen though and I'm learning quickly. I'm also learning to potty outside; it's difficult for me because outside is a very scary place right now. I'm getting better with time though, I just had a really fun play session outside with the other pointer in the house here. Please understand I was found running loose in a forest preserve and now I'm in a nice warm house with soft dog beds and couches to curl up on, not to mention laps! Patience will be needed to ensure me that I'm not going to end up lost again and to learn that outside is not such a scary place. If you make me go out enough during the day I don't have accidents in the house; if you don't I will have accidents, I'm still learning. I have not had an accident at all in my crate, I'm very good about that.
I really like playing with the other pointer that's here she's fun and nice to me. She'll even let me lay right next to her and lay my head on her back. There are three other dogs here plus the pointer. I get along with everyone. One of them is a huge male Newfoundland, but I like him he's just a big old teddy bear. I eat my meals in my crate and one time, while I was eating, my foster mom walked that big old boy right past my crate. They were very happy that I didn't freeze or guard my food, I just kept happily eating.
My foster mom says I'm a sweet, happy, little girl with a lot of love to give who's waiting for the right family to come and get it. In the meantime I'm happy and I will keep learning new things here. Oh and I also have a cute under bite.
