Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Jayde Is Ready For Her Forever Home

Jayde (formerly Clover) (2 years old, fostered in Pennsylvania)

Hi! My name is Jayde. Iíve been told I was named after someone very special! I will answer to Jayde, Jaydee, and Jaydeebug (that last one must be because of all my pretty spots)! I have a past, like most rescue dogs. I was found walking near a road in Martinsville, Indiana. It was January, when a Good Samaritan found me and brought me to the shelter. I was wearing an orange hunting collar. It is believed that I may have been lost during a hunt. When my owner did not come for me, PRO pulled me from the shelter. It was scary there and I was terribly skinny. I wish I could share the rest of my story, perhaps it would help people understand me better. Now, itís my future I am so excited about!

While I am often told how pretty I am, there is so much more to learn about me. My vet thinks I am only about two years old, maybe less. My foster parents say I am quite puppy-like, but with a certain maturity about me. I am a fun, playful, energetic, smart, funny, curious, quirky, affectionate, sweet girl. I am a very fast learner and always eager to please. My foster mama says, when we make trips to the park, pet store, or even the vet hospital, I always ďact like a ladyĒ. Iím not sure what that means, but I know it makes her very proud of me! I enjoy meeting new people and making friends with both the two-legged and four! I am described as a people-person!

I have learned so many new things with my foster family. I have learned basic commands with hand signals, and a whole lot about house manners. I still like to see whatís on the counter, but I now wait until no one is looking! Donít forgetÖÖIím smart and curious! These long legs of mine, just make it easier to see! Some of the most important things I have learned, is what a home and family is and what love and affection feels like. These were the greatest things I learned, but, with that, I learned that those are things I just donít know how to share. Everybody has something, this is mineÖÖ I need to be my new parent(s) or familyís ďOne and OnlyĒ. I will promise, in turn, to be the most loving, loyal, and devoted friend you could ever ask for! I will be the biggest smile you will see in your day. I will be your running partner, your frisbee catcher, your dance partner (thatís right, I love to dance!.... just give me the cue, and I will have my paws on your hips!). I will be your snuggle buddy too, if you invite me on the couch. I will be whatever you would like me to be! I also entertain myself very well with fun toys and bones. My foster mama says I am very entertaining to watch too! Admittedly, I will need some more leash training while we are outside- there is just so much to see and investigate out there! I have a very impressive point too, so Iíve been told! While inside, (like at the hospital), I will be right by your side.

Unfortunately, after testing negative in February for heartworm, I later tested positive. After many trips to the vet hospital, I have now completed all my treatment. Everyone at the hospital is always happy to see me. They are always telling me what a great patient I am! I have also gained some much needed weight. Iím now up to 48 pounds, but I can still afford to gain a little more. I now look, as healthy as I am! My foster mama says, I took my medicine like a champ! She also says, I take my treats so gently, that I use my lips, instead of my teeth. For some reason, she thinks thatís really cute! I am always willing to share my food with you, if you need to take my bowl away. I would probably do best with kids that are a little older, though, as I am full of energy!

I am house-broken, crate-trained, spayed, UTD on shots, microchipped, and now HW treated. I now just need to continue my HW preventative along with a good Advantix-type preventative each month. I surely donít want another mosquito infecting me again!!! A six foot fence (or, perhaps a radio fence) is very important! Did I mention, I am an incredible athlete and a pretty impressive jumper!!!

PLEASEÖÖ..if you already have furry kids of your own, SHARE my story. I just know the right person or family is waiting for a girl like me to make their world just a little bit brighter! My foster mama will be glad to answer any questions about me, so donít be afraid to ask!

Thank you for reading and sharing my story.
XOXO, Jayde
