Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Calli Needs Your Help

Calli (2 years old, fostered in New York)

Hi! Iím Calli and Iím an adorable petite approximately 2 year old female Pointer. Iíve had a pretty rough life, for one so young. At some point, I broke my left wrist and it healed a bit funny so my left front leg is crooked, but it doesnít slow me down at all! I was also attacked by coyotes and they injured my right eye beyond repair so it had to be removed. After the coyote attack, my former owner surrendered me to the shelter because he was unable to care for me. Thatís OK, because PRO found me and tended to my injuries and now Iím in a loving foster home. Iím also partially deaf, so I sometimes have a hard time hearing you when you talk to me. Because of my vision and hearing impairments, for my safety, I should always be kept on a leash or within a fence. I know it sounds like I have a lot wrong with me, but believe me, I act like a normal dog! I love to run around the back yard to expel my Pointer energy! I love toys and my favorite thing to do ever is take all the toys from the toy box to my crate where I hoard them during quiet time. I like to take naps in patches of sun. I like to play with my older foster brothers when they are feeling young and frisky, like me! Iím very busy learning proper manners. My foster mom is teaching me to keep all 4 paws on the floor when I want to be petted. Iím also learning how to sit and how to walk on a leash without pulling. Iím very outgoing and affectionate and have never displayed any aggression towards people or dogs. I can sometimes be a bit possessive about my toys and since I have an enthusiastic play style, Iíd probably do best in a household with elementary aged children or older. I might be a little too energetic for a feline friend but I would love having a canine companion to play with. I get along great with little and medium sized dogs, but big dogs intimidate me until Iíve figured out that they donít want to hurt me. Iím crate trained, 99% housebroken, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. I donít let my imperfections stop me from living life to the fullest, so please donít let them stop you from adding me to your family!
