Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Connor Needs Your Help

*ADOPT ME!*
Connor (1-2 years old, fostered in Florida)
Dog ID# 141583-P-D-AL

Connor is AMAZING. He was pulled from a shelter in Alabama in the nick of time. He was in grave danger there and a very sweet shelter volunteer was his hero and got him out to safety while he was waiting for transport to his foster home. He is gentle and sweet. He is around 50 pounds but needs to gain some more weight before he will be ready for his next journey in life - a FURever home!!! He loves to be up on the couch and sleeps in bed overnight with his foster people and various pets. He is cat and dog friendly, but he does emit a very soft growl if the overly rambunctious pack members bounce and hop all around him. He'd do best in a home with low-key dogs. He does enjoy a nice game of "catch me if you can" with the rat terriers in his foster home often, but on his terms, and when he sees fit.

He likes to stand up and give his foster mom hugs, but he stands up very slowly and gently places his feet on her chest/shoulders for a gentle pointer style bear-hug. He is very good in the house but not 100% housebroken yet. He is afraid of the metal/wire crates, but will go into an airline-cargo type crate willingly for a treat. He is generally quiet and well-behaved, but does whine when his foster mom leaves for work in the morning. He has only had one accident while crated. He prefers to be on the couch or stretched across 2 doggie beds. He is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines and is basically an all around sweet guy. He seems to have some mild skin allergies and his foster mom is working on it with a good chicken-free diet and Omega 3 vitamins. He is very birdy, and concentrates fiercely on them when he sees them. He DOES pull very hard on a leash, even when harnessed so that needs to be addressed. He looks like a land crab when he goes to the park and wants to get closer to the duckies. His foster family will work on leash manners as well and packing on the pounds. He is not high energy at all - he is very laid back and mellow. He is a sweet sweet boy, very easy to take care of and easy to love on.
