Pointer Rescue -- helping to make a difference

Blaze Needs Your Help!

Blaze - 4 years old, fostered in Virginia
Dog ID#: 150213-P-D-OK

I am Blaze and Im from Yukon, OK. I was a stray and my foster mom figures I set out on a hunting safari and ended up in the shelter. I am quite a handsome fellow, maybe about 5 years, though I show some scrapes and callouses from my adventures. Im a muscular 65 lbs. but very lean -- slowly adding some weight. I had heartworms, but am really healthy now. And home for now is Virginia and I am loving it. I have a fenced backyard with lots of bushes and trees and rocks, and that means birds, squirrels and lizards. Mom had to put an e-fence around the regular fence because I got out once, but were both good with that solution. I just LOVE outside and can run for 8 or more hours, occupying myself. I have good house manners and Im adjusting to housemates (four other dogs). I have NO problems with housebreaking, crating, eating (with others), sleeping in crate, chewing, countersurfing, but I tend to want to hoard my new mom; shes so loving to me and thats new and special. I must learn to share and not get grouchy with dog brothers and sisters. Shes teaching me. I also am learning to relax in the evening on these comfy dog beds and play with chew toys. Mom says I am super smart -- attention, sit, down, stay, wait (at doors, unloading from car, for dinner); were working on better leash walking, as I am very, very powerful and very enthusiastic. I am so happy, my mom says Im a goofball. My dream home would be all the above, only I admit I could do without sharing my humans.

PS: Blaze attended his first basic obedience class on April 27. Nervous about other dogs, but OUTSTANDING learner. Great potential for agility, obedience, rally, nosework, etc.
