Roscoe Needs a New Home
Roscoe - 3 years old, fostered in Washington
Dog ID#: 171453-P-D-CA
Intake date: 1/6/18
Available for adoption: Following Heartworm treatment
Meet Roscoe, a handsome 2-3 year old liver and white boy! Roscoe was turned in to the shelter as a stray, so we know nothing about his past, but we think that he lived outdoors, and his muscles suggest that he had a pretty active lifestyle! Roscoe does not appear to have had any obedience or hunt training, but he is adapting to indoor living and is learning basic commands – he is a happy boy who is eager to please. He may not have been well socialized with other dogs; whilst he now interacts well with his host family’s 3 Pointers he is nervous around new dogs at the off-leash park.
Roscoe loves people and is affectionate indoors, but has a very strong prey drive once he is outside. He is a physically strong athletic dog, with the energy level of a young Pointer and will require a home that can provide him with a secure environment and the physical exercise and mental stimulation needed to keep him happy. His strong prey drive may be problematic in a home with cats or small dogs, and his youthful exuberance may be an issue for a family with very young children. Given his enthusiasm for birds he may be a hunting prospect.
He is currently being treated for heartworm, but will be available for adoption once his treatment is completed. He is neutered, current on vaccines, has been microchipped and is crate-trained.
