Judy is a sweet and loving little old lady! 12 year old Judy came to the rescue after she was removed from her home; her owners were charged with animal cruelty. She has spent the past year of life living outdoors with inadequate food and shelter. Besides being underweight, she shows signs of mistreatment—she is shy of new people and acts like she expects to be hit. But once she gets over her initial fear of a person, she is super loving happy, and trusting—we can tell she must have been a loved house pet at some point in her past. She loves attention and affection, and is quite the cuddler. She spends much of her time on the sofa, and likes to sleep in bed with her people.

Judy is re-learning housebreaking, after living outdoors for a long time. She understands the idea, and will usually bark at the back door when she has to go out, but at this time she won’t go outside by herself—she’s very afraid of being abandoned out there. She’s only been in foster care for a week, though, at this writing, and is already making progress and beginning to realize she is safe.

Judy is great with other dogs, likes children, and is not grumpy or testy under any circumstances. She completely ignores cats. She rides well in the car. She is OK on a leash. Apart from the housebreaking work, she is great in the house and does not get into things…(well, she’s learning not to countersurf.) :). She goes in the kitchen and barks a couple times to announce when she thinks it’s time to be fed. She’s a very easy going dog who loves hanging out with her people. She spends a lot of her day asleep, but has her bursts of activity. She likes to run up and down stairs with her Pointer housemate, playing a gentle game of tug of war.

Judy has heartworms; apart from that, the vet says she is in excellent health. She’s undergoing HW treatment and will be available for adoption in a few months. Please feel free to inquire about her or talk with her foster home if you are interested in giving this sweet girl a retirement home!
