Hello, I am Piper! I heard that you have an open position for a new dog and I would like to submit my application. My qualifications include being a stunningly beautiful, motivated student, devoted companion, and top-notch snuggler.

I am a super sweet and fun 2-year-old B&W pointer. Somehow, I ended up in a shelter in Oklahoma. Iím not really sure what I did wrong other than being a young Pointer! Thankfully, the great folks at Pointer Rescue Organization decided to take me in. I am currently being fostered in New York until I find my forever home. I have been with my foster home for two weeks now. Iím about 1.5 to 2 years old, which is the perfect age Ė young enough to be a typical active, playful and curious young pointer, but old enough to be housebroken, crate trained and generally well-behaved. My foster folks say that I am the perfect dog because I strike the right balance between being confident and playful, without being overly independent or bossy.

I am easy to live with because I love people, kids, dogs and probably cats. Iíve never met a stranger and will gladly greet them a big, wet kiss! I am currently living with two other big, active retrievers, and a young 6-month-old Pointer puppy. I enjoy a good romp around the yard with my canine friends followed by lots of snoozing and snuggles with my people. I ride beautifully in the car and would love to be your companion on any outdoor adventure. I would make an awesome running or walking buddy. I walk nicely on leash.

I am housebroken, but I donít yet signal when I need to go. Letting me out a little more often will ensure my success. I donít mind being in my crate and sleep quietly through the night (although Iíd much prefer to share your bed with you.) I am just the right size for snuggling. I definitely love to receive belly rubs and ear scratches.

I was quite bouncy when I first arrived, but have made tremendous progress with obedience training and regular exercise. I am very smart, treat motivated, and a quick learner. Iíve learned to stay off of the counters and now rarely jump on people. Iím getting much better about these bad habits as I am adjusting to living in a house, eating regular meals, and gaining weight. I do not chew things that I should not and I rarely bark. I sit nicely for treats and food and have excellent recall in the yard, but would benefit from a basic obedience class to reinforce these commands and further add to my training.

Spring is in the air and I am curious about all of the bird, squirrel, bunny, and chipmunk activity in the yard. It is all very exciting, so a fenced yard would be best for keeping me safe. However, I think I could adjust to apartment life or an unfenced yard with sufficient exercise in addition to proper recall training or invisible fence training. I am eager to please and have hunting potential for someone willing to train me.

I currently weight about 45 pounds and have a clean bill of health. I am fully vaccinated, dewormed and heartworm negative. I have been spayed, microchipped and put on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. I am well behaved for nail trimming, ear cleaning, bathing, and brushing.
